The Life of An Entrepreneur

What Happened to the Paperboy? | the way of improvement leads home

I spent a good amount of years as a fulltime entrepreneur. During these years, I attempted to teach my sons the same values that drove me to become an entrepreneur. I guess you can say my parents didn’t really buy us stuff over $20 that we wanted so it drove me to learn how to make money. That was a great lesson in itself. If you always give a handout without a lesson, what did that child really learn?

Those were the 90s. That’s when I knew I had to find methods to teach myself how to make money. We didn’t have the internet in 1989-1990 so I found out that I could be a paperboy. What that did for me was build my personality around the people industry. Ironically, I don’t know if I’d trust todays methods of people on their phones driving with kids delivering paper early in the morning. Maybe I’ve become too soft.

I knew I love working with people. Especially the senior citizen community because I found that they have the greatest of hearts and were cut, for the most part, from the same tree of values I was. Not all of them of course but many. That career as a paperboy had me knocking on doors to collect payment and also building a timely manner to deliver the paper. Little did I know this would teach me the values of customer service as an entrepreneur.

One of my first businesses during my marriage life was running a computer service company, Affordable Computer Doctor, that allowed me to service the residents of Hemet and San Jacinto cities for over 5 years. I enjoyed the connections I made with people as well as the amazing stories of their WWII experience. I take a lot of pride in my work and I treat other people’s businesses as my own and work extra hard to make sure expectations are delivered on time.

Step-by-Step Guide to Starting Your Own Business and Becoming a ...

So how do you inspire a 17 year old to build their own business or go get a job? Well you simply cut back on the luxury of paying for their cell phone. It begins with that decision and I know how addictive a smart phone can become to all of us so removing that definitely would drive someone to get to work. I told my boys a few years ago that they’re no longer kids. I’ve been working since I was 11 and if I can do it you can do it too. You can find value in building something on the internet now that they have access to the internet. Anybody can create something they love and enjoy. I always say you’re going to do best in something you’re passionate about rather than just doing anything. After all, we are all here to either build a business to survive and chase our dreams, or we are around to help someone else build theirs (Employee). Either way, if you’re needed that’s a good sign you have value that nobody else has.

I hope this small article inspired you. Just some thoughts that have been running through my mind. These are times to be creative and know your self worth.

Go out and fill that void and make it happen. After all, nobody can duplicate your personality. You are you because you are loved.

Goodbye Mark Hoverson…

Hello Friends,

It’s been a minute. I know. Bare with me I’m sorry to have to be a stranger online. Frankly my wife and I have been slammed with our e-commerce business and homeschooling the boys. Additionally, I’ve been through a lot in the last 3 years. We’ll get back to me in a follow up email later.

In 2010, I met a dear friend, Mark Hoverson at a Jeffery Combs event — More Heart Than Talent. I felt an instant connection with Mark Hoverson. We were never in a company together but he was always a friend and a mentor to me online and off.

Mark and me in 2011 at a Las Vegas Marketing Event
I can text or call him to ask for business advice and as I attended many of his webinars, I noticed something awesome that nobody was doing. He was drawing on the screen like a 5 year old. I sat there and was thinking to myself, why is this guy drawing? Later on he shared with me the book (The Back of The Napkin by Dan Roam) that made him draw and the purpose of that drawing lead to my next point. He was always giving a lot of himself. Shared so much value that I felt like I owed him at least this….

In October of 2017, because I had Mark Hoverson on my cell phone saved, he showed up on my Snapchat Feed. I was in shocked on how skinny he had gotten. I had no idea he had a very unique cancer. He was given 4-6 weeks to live and ended up living an additional 4 years.

Mark’s heart was unique. He loved the industry of helping people hit their maximum potential. His heart was in the right place and hundreds and thousands of people came across Mark Hoverson online one way or another.

I’m reaching out to you in the kindness of supporting his family he left behind on their medical bills. He left a very unique video that I haven’t seen anyone with cancer leave behind. He left you and me a message. That message can be found on his GoFundMe page (http://cesarramirez.com/markhoversonGoFundMe).

When I spoke to Mark last, he and I had an awesome phone conversation. He was more concerned about my well being of achieving greatness than he was discussing his cancer. As a matter of fact he called it his “little sickness.” In my opinion he lived a fullness of life with his business and family.
I’ll miss you Mark. My heart aches but know you’re a lover of Jesus Christ and you’re in a place of no suffering.
It’s good to be writing again old friend, I hope you haven’t given up on me quite yet my friend…

Chat soon,

P.S. Please support The Hoverson family. Mark Hoverson? was a dear friend I met back in 2010 in Dallas, Texas at a business networking event. He left behind his beautiful wife and 4 children. Cancer bills as you can image are astronomical. Thank you and any little bit helps to get closer to their goal! Support his family here: http://cesarramirez.com/markhoversonGoFundMe

Building Leaders

One of the greatest things about being in business and growing a team in Internet and / or Network Marketing is you get to build people up. You can see them go from zero to hero pretty quick — for those that are interested. For some folks it’s like a bamboo tree. It takes them 5 years to sprout and grow into a big tree. It’s not about the speed of the destination for them though… it’s about the journey.

Customer support is and should be number one priority to be attentive to your team members. I propose a 24-48 hour response time for support to anyone that needs it. This gives enough wiggle room to create the time allotted for those on your team and those looking to join.

Some tips to consider when building a team:

  1. Clearly define the type of person you’d like to grow to be.
  2. Seek and develop leaders to duplicate that person.
  3. On a scale of 1-10 if you see yourself as a mid range leader lets say a 6. You will easily want to sponsor/recruit folks that are a 5 or below because they’re easier to talk to. What I propose is you seek a 6 or a 7 and let them go recruit those and above to strengthen the team
  4. If a person is not in alignment with your core philosophies, make sure to disconnect from them immediately. Longing the process can and will hinder your team synergy.

Take me for example. I like to seek out humble people that have the mentality of treating others like they want to be treated. In sales we call that mirror and matching. Do you want to be babysitting an adult who has the “entitlement” mentality of “what’s in it for me?” Or do you prefer the person that takes the tasks in hand and provides support to others. I like to call it, The Servant Leadership mindset. How can I serve you today?

I gotta tell you, it’s a lot simpler when the person you are working with has messed up and they ask for forgiveness. I’m the first to tell you that I’ve messed up and I’ve asked for forgiveness because I know that I’m a sinner, I’m not perfect. Asking for forgiveness has really allowed me to grow into a servant leader. A lot of this comes from growing up with very little in my hands. I wasn’t fed a silver spoon in my mouth and I really had to go out and make it happen.

The change for the future and present. A lot of my philosophies in business grew from awesome humble leaders like Jim Rohn, John C. Maxwell, Derek Wiersma, Scott Aguilar, Ray Higdon and many leaders that have poured their heart into my mindset of thinking to allow me to thing and grow within.

Most importantly, what I use to think was common sense growing up isn’t so common when you start to work with people. You’re going to be challenged with different personalities. That’s right, some folks are going to have egos bigger than their bank account. Chasing the money because someone makes more than the other isn’t necessarily someone you want to follow. Especially if you know they have deceived others in the process of getting there. Therefore, know your playing field.

Here’s a quick story. I coached a guy who was having trouble generating any type of money online. With my coaching and that of the other servant leaders, he finally started to make some money in my eBay program. He was one of the first guys I coached. Later on because some of the herd thought the grass was greener on the other side, decided to snag him from me. Mind you, I never did anything wrong to this guy, but apparently because I didn’t follow them, they decided to make me the enemy. His exact words were “How does that feel to pour salt on the wound.” Soon after this statement, he died of cancer. To this day I feel sorry for the guy for not seeing it. He missed the purpose of why I had formed the team in the first place.

“The birds are going to get them.” That’s right, get ready for the the birds. It’s part of your business but don’t get caught up there in the conversation. Keep moving forward because there’s a hater in everything that you do. If you keep a clear defined vision, the right people will follow. Hate has very little strength in anything. When building a business out of love and passion, you will start to see the Diamonds in the rough shine through.

May this message inspire you and your team!

Link Building: Does It Still Matter?

backlinks

People say link building is already obsolete or irrelevant. That was after Google, through Matt Cutts, said that search engines would no longer mostly rely on them for rankings. But many SEO (search engine optimization) experts still believe that backlinks are important.

How so?

Links Should Be Backed by Quality Content

First, what Google frowns upon is over optimization brought about by the excessive use and heavy reliance to backlinks in order to promote a site. Cutts calls link building as “sweat plus creativity.” Thus, it is not entirely disallowed. It simply means that the value of a site should not only be dependent on strategically-placed links. Its contents should also matter, and it should be of value to its audience. Quality, creativity, and substance should go with it.

Remember that at the end of the day, you are not merely blogging or making a website just to rank in Google, Yahoo!, or Bing. Instead, you are doing it to eventually please your audience, and ultimately convince them to buy or avail any product or service that you are promoting in your site or blog. User experience must come above all else in order to ensure your survival in the e-commerce business or other ventures online.

It Leads to More Information Plus Legitimate Products and Services

Second, if you are already on your way finding a Burlington SEO company, remember that links are important in terms of providing your reader more information about a certain subject. It offers audiences a reference should they wish to get more data about something they are reading. For short, it promotes a harmonious flow of information from one site to another that will surely benefit the reader.

Alternatively, it is a way to lead customers to products or services related to the content they are checking out to allow them to get directly to its legitimate seller. With the presence of scams and copycats online, good links filter them out. It bridges audiences from a high-quality  site to a reliable product or service that they want to try out. By the way when your pets need food or resources, its is best to order online through my pet needs that.

Links Distinguish Good Sites From Bad Ones

Third, backlinks serve as a shout-out to the source of information you have in your site. It helps quality and reliable sites to be known to audiences and aids them in establishing a good reputation online. In a way, this still allows improved user experience to your visitors.

Link Building Will Always Be Important

Links remain as the backbone of a good content. What Google discouraged is people spamming them just to gain undue advantage in search engines or to deceive customers. Sure these black hat tactics do work for a while, but Google will penalize you for it once they find out. And it usually doesn’t take them long to flag down sites that do employ such tactics.

Lastly, people can only be tricked once. When they realize that your site offers misleading or bad user experience, they will no longer return to it. Worse, they will share it to others who will later avoid your site. In the long run, these will damage your online reputation dearly.

Therefore, it should be reminded that backlinks should only be used in an appropriate manner. Most importantly, they should lead your audiences to sites or products and services that will really produce a nice experience.

Imagine this, creating an image with your special code to receive a quality lead. Not only are they quality but you’re also qualifying them through a survey system that you can charge a small fee for to have that lead respect your time. How powerful is that? I’m telling you right now, nobody else is doing this and I believe this is the missing element to the system that you’ve been seeking to only work with qualified leads.

I don’t want to spoil it for you, so come get the visuals tomorrow night on the webinar.
