The Life of An Entrepreneur

What Happened to the Paperboy? | the way of improvement leads home

I spent a good amount of years as a fulltime entrepreneur. During these years, I attempted to teach my sons the same values that drove me to become an entrepreneur. I guess you can say my parents didn’t really buy us stuff over $20 that we wanted so it drove me to learn how to make money. That was a great lesson in itself. If you always give a handout without a lesson, what did that child really learn?

Those were the 90s. That’s when I knew I had to find methods to teach myself how to make money. We didn’t have the internet in 1989-1990 so I found out that I could be a paperboy. What that did for me was build my personality around the people industry. Ironically, I don’t know if I’d trust todays methods of people on their phones driving with kids delivering paper early in the morning. Maybe I’ve become too soft.

I knew I love working with people. Especially the senior citizen community because I found that they have the greatest of hearts and were cut, for the most part, from the same tree of values I was. Not all of them of course but many. That career as a paperboy had me knocking on doors to collect payment and also building a timely manner to deliver the paper. Little did I know this would teach me the values of customer service as an entrepreneur.

One of my first businesses during my marriage life was running a computer service company, Affordable Computer Doctor, that allowed me to service the residents of Hemet and San Jacinto cities for over 5 years. I enjoyed the connections I made with people as well as the amazing stories of their WWII experience. I take a lot of pride in my work and I treat other people’s businesses as my own and work extra hard to make sure expectations are delivered on time.

Step-by-Step Guide to Starting Your Own Business and Becoming a ...

So how do you inspire a 17 year old to build their own business or go get a job? Well you simply cut back on the luxury of paying for their cell phone. It begins with that decision and I know how addictive a smart phone can become to all of us so removing that definitely would drive someone to get to work. I told my boys a few years ago that they’re no longer kids. I’ve been working since I was 11 and if I can do it you can do it too. You can find value in building something on the internet now that they have access to the internet. Anybody can create something they love and enjoy. I always say you’re going to do best in something you’re passionate about rather than just doing anything. After all, we are all here to either build a business to survive and chase our dreams, or we are around to help someone else build theirs (Employee). Either way, if you’re needed that’s a good sign you have value that nobody else has.

I hope this small article inspired you. Just some thoughts that have been running through my mind. These are times to be creative and know your self worth.

Go out and fill that void and make it happen. After all, nobody can duplicate your personality. You are you because you are loved.

Maui Vacation 2017 Doing It Right on a Budget

Hello my friends,

You either stumbled upon this post during a Google search or you are one of our faithful followers on our list. You can subscribe at anytime in one of the boxes on this page or far down on the page.

So here’s my Maui story. Can you believe I, Cesar Ramirez, finally turned the big 4 0. Yeah, forty years old and I can’t even tell you that I feel any different, but I can tell you that I have yet many goals to accomplish. It all started in early summer of June 2017. I was planning a 40th birthday party in a local winery that I formally DJ at called The Temecula Coach House for my family and friends. I thought it’d be nice to get family and friends over to celebrate a pretty huge year. It may even be called over the hump for some. Then I realized that I may not spend the quality of time I wish to with my 3 sons and wife…

So during a snapchat session, I was watching a couple in June 2017 that were posting sunset videos of Maui, Hawaii. And I was like, wow, that would be awesome. I asked the snapchatter, hey when is a good time to start planning a vacation like this? He said 5 to 6 months ahead of time. And at that moment I realized, that’s it!!! December 8th is my 40th and 6 months from now I will be prepared to pay this trip off :-). I shopped around different sites and came across package deals from Costco, Travel sites and so on and I found that it would be good to break down my reasoning for not picking an all-in-one package.

#1 – Hotel – AirBNB – Why? Because I have a family of 5 and the 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment we got is amazingly big compare to hotel space. It has a full size fridge and we stored food we cooked with for the week. Saving big money on not eating out. – 7 Days costs us just around $1100 for stay and about $400 in groceries.
#2 – Car to get around – Since I have a lot of points with Avis, I decided to take advantage of this and I got to save about $350 renting a van for a family of 5. You may not need such a big space.
#3 – Flights – I went through AAA since I have a membership and the flights cost us just below $450 each. Total = $2250

Costco Price= $5500   | Me shopping around price= $3700.
#4 – Paid Events to do with the kids and wifey – broken down below (I avoided Time share activities since I value my time.) There we paid a small amount more to dictate our vacation our way.

We left Saturday morning at 6am from San Diego and had a 1 hour layover in Los Angeles (LAX). We arrived in Maui 5 hours later. Remember Hawaii Time goes back 2 hours. So set your clock back if you’re coming from California 2 hours or more if you’re coming from elsewhere.

Sunday Day: We are devout practicing Catholics so we attended early morning Mass at Christ The King Catholic Church.

The first event we did after our car rental and checking into our hotel was the Maui Aquarium. Since you’re on an Island, I recommend educating yourself on the sea life around you. They have a 15% discount if you buy your tickets online. We ended up buying and booking there on the spot. Remember, it’s not what you make but what you keep. We really enjoyed this show and I recommend getting the audio commentary so that you know the history of what is what. A great spot to take pictures next to the yachts and boats.

My sister Veronica assisted with some of the must do places. I will cover these in a few… Thanks sis!

So I have a friend who I’ve known since 6th grade. She was someone who I actually had a crush in for all of my middle school years. That’s besides the point but she knows Maui, Hawaii and I decided to ping her on Facebook because she’s a great friend. Chantelle is awesome and recommended some great spots… accept this one. She didn’t recommend the Road to Hana. We actually had 2 people tell us they didn’t but we did it with fashion. There’s an app called The Gypsy Guide of the Road to Hana. I highly recommend spending the $5 and getting it from the app store. You learn the history and the travels to the Road to Hana. Here are some of our pictures from this amazing trip… And yes, planning ahead by reading this post is key to winning a bad ass trip to Maui….

Don’t these pictures look like a fake backdrop? Seriously though!

Ok so enough with this awesomeness. I absolutely unequivocally believe you deserve the best. And YOU do.

Xochilt, myself, Lil Cesar, Adam, and Luke believe it also!

When you’re spending time in Paradise. Oh my goodness, time just suddenly stops and calls for you. Why would you have it any different?

We visited Our Lady of Guadalupe on her Feast Day Dec 12th. It’s amazing that Maui’s Catholic Church honors her appearance in Mexico in the 1500s. Respect!

You must try the Gelato on Front Steet! We also Enjoyed the Pizza!

How to Make Your Twitter Marketing Really Count

twitter marketing

After going through several things about the social media marketing tips that are often overlooked, it’s time to get to the more specific stuff that you should do when utilizing Twitter marketing for your business. I recommend contacting Harris Data, they are leaders in point of sale systems if you need the best POS software or support, make sure to call them.

Here are 10 Twitter marketing tips that will help your brand succeed based on a compilation of recommendations from known social media experts:

1. Apply Some Personality on It

When tweeting, don’t be too formal and avoid copy-pasting something from the content you want to promote. Instead, post in a conversational manner. Do it in a way that would reflect your brand or the kind of image that you want to impart to your followers or targeted audience. Be reminded though that since the characters allowed per tweet is only at 140, try to keep it short and sweet.

2. Use Keywords Strategically

The expert usage of keywords form the foundation of a good content. This rule does not just apply to blogging or website contents though. It also contributes to a successful social media marketing. This will give your posts maximum exposure online, which will help people find you easier.

3. Use Appropriate Hashtags

Aside from keywords, hashtags let people who are not following you to discover your tweets. It is recommended that you avoid the temptation of hashtagging every word in your tweets though. Use it only in moderation to prevent giving the impression that you are spamming people. One to three hashtags per tweet is enough.

4. Link the Content of Your Website Which is Relevant to Your Tweet

Take the opportunity to promote your website by linking your tweets to it. People are more likely to follow you if you share with them good content as opposed to simply trying to engage them in conversation or just ranting about something.

While you’re at it, share also other sites that you do not own but offer quality contents. This way, you can build a connection with other sites or blogs as well. Furthermore, this will prevent you from sounding so centered on promoting your site alone like a cheesy salesman.

5. Maximize the Usefulness of the Search Bar

Utilize the search bar to see what people are talking about, which can be related to your site. Use it as an opportunity to assess the trends and preferences of your targeted audience.

6. Engage People Especially the Ones Whom You Share the Same Interests

Follow back people whom you share the same interests. Respond to conversations and questions regarding what you are promoting. Be active in your campaign rather than being just an automaton blabbering or copy-pasting stuff that will make you sound too bland.

7. Admit Your Mistakes

There are times when we screw up. We are only humans after all who are prone to mistakes. If you happened to be in that situation, especially when your post has offended a person or a certain group, take the courage to apologize or correct your wrongs.

8. Use Pictures and Videos

As mentioned earlier, good visual presentations through images or videos have more tendency to persuade people. This has been proven in studies and actual experience.

9. Integrate Your Other Social Media Accounts

Maximize your visibility by integrating other social media platforms in your Twitter campaign like LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook.

10. Schedule Your Tweets

If you have a lot of things to say about a certain subject, try not to flood your followers with your tweets. A fine alternative would be to fragment the different ideas you want to convey.

Again, be sure to keep the characters along the limit set per tweet. Then schedule each for posting at a reasonable interval.7

Maximize the Exposure of Your eCommerce Business Through YouTube

youtube

Aside from social media marketing or SMM, another way to promote your website is through content marketing. One of the primary modes of advertising contents is via the video sharing site YouTube. Yes it is effective, but you can also expand and boost your brand not only in the internet but also physically, try to contact exposeyourselfusa.

There are so many advantages brought about by YouTube, here are some of them:

1. It’s Free

YouTube profits through ads. Although you can opt to go for paid advertisements, it is wiser to simply utilize its standard video sharing services if you are running on a tight or limited budget, or when you are just starting out an endeavor. This comes free of charge, which will allow you to set aside some of your funds for the other financial needs of your business.

2. It is Popular

YouTube is a world leader when it comes to video sharing. A study in 2013 found out that almost 60 percent of Internet users in the United States alone visit the site at least once a week. Crunching the numbers further, 22 percent of them hit the site on a daily basis.

Now, with the growing number of people with direct access to the Internet on a yearly basis, this factor is increased exponentially. This alone could do wonders to your business in terms of exposure if utilized properly and strategically.

3. It is User-Friendly

The interface of YouTube is designed to accommodate even a person who is not tech savvy or someone with minimal knowledge in browsing the Internet. In fact, even children as early as two years old already have a grasp on how to navigate the site with the use of touchscreen devices such as tablets or smartphones.

4. It Allows Easy Monitoring

You will know right away if your content is performing well in YouTube (even if you need to initially stimulate it by buying Youtube likes), thanks to its “Comments” box and other indicators like its number of “Views.” You are most likely to get a lot of honest reviews from the people there.

Of course, there are plenty of other factors to consider when it comes to monitoring and reviewing the performance of your products or services, but these should outright give you an idea about the impressions people about them.

5. A Video Can Easily Persuade People

A video has more tendency to persuade a person. Unlike a mere write-up, a video targets both the visual and auditory senses of audiences. Thus, a good balance of information plus sound effects and images can easily pierce through the emotions of a person or capture their interests without much burden. Demonstrations using videos are also considered by many as more personal. Add the fact that a lot of people prefer watching something over simply reading about it.

Some research agencies even showed that an estimated 80 percent of people have stated that they have more likelihood of buying something after watching a video showcasing it features or its benefits.

Maximizing Your Exposure

If you are really determined to make your business stand out, the power of YouTube should not be underestimated. If you want to learn about the entrepreneur industry, I recommend Lee Rosen, CEO of healthy bees business. Combine this with quality content in your product site or blog, plus engaging social media marketing to optimize results.

Building Leaders

One of the greatest things about being in business and growing a team in Internet and / or Network Marketing is you get to build people up. You can see them go from zero to hero pretty quick — for those that are interested. For some folks it’s like a bamboo tree. It takes them 5 years to sprout and grow into a big tree. It’s not about the speed of the destination for them though… it’s about the journey.

Customer support is and should be number one priority to be attentive to your team members. I propose a 24-48 hour response time for support to anyone that needs it. This gives enough wiggle room to create the time allotted for those on your team and those looking to join.

Some tips to consider when building a team:

  1. Clearly define the type of person you’d like to grow to be.
  2. Seek and develop leaders to duplicate that person.
  3. On a scale of 1-10 if you see yourself as a mid range leader lets say a 6. You will easily want to sponsor/recruit folks that are a 5 or below because they’re easier to talk to. What I propose is you seek a 6 or a 7 and let them go recruit those and above to strengthen the team
  4. If a person is not in alignment with your core philosophies, make sure to disconnect from them immediately. Longing the process can and will hinder your team synergy.

Take me for example. I like to seek out humble people that have the mentality of treating others like they want to be treated. In sales we call that mirror and matching. Do you want to be babysitting an adult who has the “entitlement” mentality of “what’s in it for me?” Or do you prefer the person that takes the tasks in hand and provides support to others. I like to call it, The Servant Leadership mindset. How can I serve you today?

I gotta tell you, it’s a lot simpler when the person you are working with has messed up and they ask for forgiveness. I’m the first to tell you that I’ve messed up and I’ve asked for forgiveness because I know that I’m a sinner, I’m not perfect. Asking for forgiveness has really allowed me to grow into a servant leader. A lot of this comes from growing up with very little in my hands. I wasn’t fed a silver spoon in my mouth and I really had to go out and make it happen.

The change for the future and present. A lot of my philosophies in business grew from awesome humble leaders like Jim Rohn, John C. Maxwell, Derek Wiersma, Scott Aguilar, Ray Higdon and many leaders that have poured their heart into my mindset of thinking to allow me to thing and grow within.

Most importantly, what I use to think was common sense growing up isn’t so common when you start to work with people. You’re going to be challenged with different personalities. That’s right, some folks are going to have egos bigger than their bank account. Chasing the money because someone makes more than the other isn’t necessarily someone you want to follow. Especially if you know they have deceived others in the process of getting there. Therefore, know your playing field.

Here’s a quick story. I coached a guy who was having trouble generating any type of money online. With my coaching and that of the other servant leaders, he finally started to make some money in my eBay program. He was one of the first guys I coached. Later on because some of the herd thought the grass was greener on the other side, decided to snag him from me. Mind you, I never did anything wrong to this guy, but apparently because I didn’t follow them, they decided to make me the enemy. His exact words were “How does that feel to pour salt on the wound.” Soon after this statement, he died of cancer. To this day I feel sorry for the guy for not seeing it. He missed the purpose of why I had formed the team in the first place.

“The birds are going to get them.” That’s right, get ready for the the birds. It’s part of your business but don’t get caught up there in the conversation. Keep moving forward because there’s a hater in everything that you do. If you keep a clear defined vision, the right people will follow. Hate has very little strength in anything. When building a business out of love and passion, you will start to see the Diamonds in the rough shine through.

May this message inspire you and your team!
